Yasmin - Yoga Teacher
Founder of at1.SPACE
Yasmin has practised yoga for over 20 years and has developed extensive knowledge and experience in yoga & wellbeing. She has learnt from some of the world’s most inspiring teachers & gurus. Most recently studying over a four-year period in India, considered the birthplace of yoga.
These experiences included journeying throughout India to immerse herself in the Dalai Lama’s teachings, living in hidden secluded ashrams (spiritual houses), where very few Westerners are permitted and travelling to the foothills of the Himalayas, where she challenged herself physically and mentally, and fully immersed herself in the contemplation of what it means to be at1.
From this place of contemplation she was able to develop and bring to life the concept of at1.SPACE, thus taking her yoga practise off the mat and into her community and hometown of Nottingham. To be at1, means to be in harmony with ourselves and our surroundings. ‘at1.SPACE offers you the best wellbeing facility in the East Midlands, and access to some of the regions most respected practitioners.’ In addition, Yasmin holds a 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training certification and a 40-hour Advanced Pranayama qualification.
She was awarded a First in the Family Scholarship to attend Nottingham University where she completed her degree in Sociology.
She continues her charity work, fundraising, and efforts to bridge the gap between complementary and mainstream medicine, and takes a keen interest in the wellbeing of women. For her recent work within the community and with undergraduates, Yasmin holds an Industry Fellowship with Nottingham Trent University. Yasmin has been featured in The University of Nottingham’s Business School annual impact report (2020) for her achievements.

“I think there is a misconception about yoga. Whilst bending your body into something that closely resembles a pretzel may be fun for some, striving for this is not the best use of time for busy, modern people with work, family and other commitments…”
Investing that time in a yoga practice that promotes balance, benefiting the body and also accessing the other elements of our ‘being’ is the perfect way for us to use our practise both on and off the mat.
By connecting deeply to ourselves in this way we are better able to connect to others, drawing on our similarities as human beings. This improves us, our relationships and our community.
This is why I created at1.SPACE.
