Gaining access to a complete set of healthcare services is confusing, time-consuming and often expensive. In general terms, the healthcare sector caters for people who are seeking to address one aspect of their health - whether that is a physical aspect (i.e. a gym, a physio or personal trainer) , a mental need (i.e. a GP or a counsellor), or a dietary need (i.e. a nutritionist). Across this healthcare landscape, there are very few organisations that have been designed to take a complete look at a person’s health and offer an integrated set of services that promote that individual’s well-being, and where the focus is often on the cure and not the prevention. The local healthcare market does not have any organisations that can offer the long-term services required to support a person’s physical, mental and emotional needs.
Even those with the best intentions find it difficult to navigate the confusing landscape of services provided by health centres, gyms and the NHS.
at1.SPACE is a new kind of health-centric organisation that seeks to make it easy for people to access a wide range of well-being services to support their own and wider community needs.
On a personal level, I feel really humbled and empowered to be able to create something like at1.SPACE. I feel that I have the tools, the capability and the support to create a difference to people. It is important that we have organisations that focus on helping people develop sustainable lifestyle choices that have a positive impact on both them and the communities around us. It is important to me that I create leadership roles for women in at1.SPACE so that they can build their own success stories.
