Here at at1.SPACE, we are lucky enough to be located right next to Nottingham's award-winning Jubilee campus, renowned for its environmental sustainability. We have successfully made sure we are legally compliant, and now we want to make sure that we are doing our bit by giving back to the environment and being as environmentally friendly as possible, whilst also giving back to the local community. We have several ways that we plan to do this....
We will ensure that as much of our packing as possible is recyclable, as well as having plenty of recycle bins on site for clients and employees to use.
We will encourage students to bring their own re-usable water bottles/ flasks, offering a small discount to those who wish to purchase a drink in their own bottle, in order to ensure minimal wastage. We will have water facilities available on site for clients to fill their water bottles from.
Instead of disposing of mats once they need replacing, we will be donating them to homeless shelters where they can be used for extra padding, and we encourage our clients to bring in any old mats for the same purpose. As well as this, we will try our best to donate any food wastage to local shelters.
Additionally, we want to promote equal opportunities. The practice of yoga is inclusive and doesn't need to be complex... no matter if you're new to it, a committed yogi, a senior, or you have a disability, everybody can take part - even if that simply means joining in with the breathing exercises and practising mindfulness . As part of our commitment to enforce equal opportunities, we have disabled-friendly facilities such as toilets and showers, as well as a ramp for easy access. We want to encourage all people from all walks of life to join our space, and create an inclusive community in which everybody can feel safe and relaxed.
