How are we doing yogis?
During these unprecedented times, we understand life has been tough for everyone. Looking after your mental and physical health has become more important now than ever, so we hope you’re being kind to yourself.
Following on from our previous ‘mindful morning routine’ blog post, we have also created an evening routine aimed towards allowing you to switch off properly at the end of your day. It is just as important to end your day properly as it is starting your day, and we hope these tips will benefit you.
Switch off from work
If you have a job that allows this, it is beneficial that once you are done for the day, you switch off from your work. This will allow your mind to switch from ‘work mode’, to ‘leisure mode’, allowing your body the rest it needs.
Evening yoga classes
Our evening yoga classes are the perfect way to de-stress at the end of the day.
This class, as always, is free of criticism and judgement. Expect a fun, loving and strong physical practice. Release negative energy trapped within the physical body from the work day and get your blood pumping!
Inspiration for this class is taken from the meaning of asana, which roughly translates as ‘posture held in stillness’. It will help you open up both mentally and physically.
This class creates energy and raises vibrations. You will enjoy a practice that is entire and whole, with a combination of asana, mantra, meditation, balances, deep core strengthening and relaxation.
Yoga Nidra is also known as yogic sleep. It is a powerful technique for controlling your body’s relaxation response, and is as restorative as sleep.
If any of these classes sound perfect for you, please check our schedule to find classes and book on!
A healthy dinner is just as important as a healthy breakfast! Refuelling your body at the end of the day is essential, as it allows our body to continue to perform its works through the night whilst we sleep.
Similar to in the mornings, resisting technology has a list of benefits before going to sleep. It is recommended that at least 45 minutes before you plan on going to sleep, you turn off all technological screens. This allows your brain to stop working as hard, as the light emitted from your phone screen has large effects on how long it takes your brain to relax. Instead, you could read a book. This is much more calming and will set you up for a better nights sleep.
A healthy amount of sleep
Going to sleep late and waking up early has a list of negative effects on your body. You will start the day feeling sluggish, struggling to concentrate, and extremely tired. Ensuring you get a healthy amount of sleep means your body has time to refuel overnight, meaning you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.
Following these simple tips will allow your body the time it needs to rest in the evenings.
